Standard Carpets is continuously investing in new technologies which are energy efficient and use little or
no water during manufacturing. All our yarns are manufactured using solution-dyed technology. With
this technology there is no water pollution and no toxic chemicals are produced. Our carpets emit
virtually no VOCs into a closed environment. The test criterion incorporates Carpet and Rug Institute
Green Label Plus program ASTM D 5116. Standard Carpets has also tied up with a leading manufacturer of
Vinyl flooring to collect post-installation waste during Vinyl installation. About 70,000 tons of waste is
recycled with REACH norms. The waste is then calendared to form a recycled sheet which is used as
backing in our tiles. With an export market of over 54 countries, we are aware of the greenhouse gasses
created from transporting goods from port to port. Our polyurethane tile backing system has cut down
our energy consumption by 45% on our tile backing line and increased productivity by 20%. In addition,
polyurethane tiles are 20% lighter than the conventional vinyl tiles. The major impact of this is on the
reduction of greenhouse gases as less fossil fuel is consumed to move the finished products all around the
globe. In 2011, we will also invest in recycling the entire waste produced from backing lines to be reused
as backing for our broadloom products. |
